Our story

Rooted in Relationships

2005Flaherty Financial Group opened

At Flaherty Financial Group, our clients aren’t account numbers — they’re people we genuinely care about. From the very beginning, John has believed that the best way to help someone plan for retirement is to get to know them: their hopes, their worries, and the people who matter most to them.

Some of John’s very first clients were his own parents, and that experience shaped everything about how we work today. We treat every client the way we would want our own family treated, with honesty, patience and a listening ear. Whatever comes next for you, we’ll be right there alongside you, listening and planning together.

Meet our founder

John Flaherty

President & Founder

John has spent more than 30 years in financial planning and insurance, and he takes real pride in knowing his field well and looking after each client personally. In 2005, after a long stretch at large financial institutions, John launched his own firm so he could work with people one-on-one and help them plan for the retirement they picture for themselves.

Over the years, John has been invited to speak at industry events around the country, sharing financial strategies with audiences from coast to coast. John is an Investment Adviser Representative with Brookstone Capital Management and holds multiple industry licenses. John studied business administration at the University of Nevada, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

Away from the office, John and Tiffany are the proud parents of two daughters, and traveling together is one of their favorite things to do. You might also find John out on a walk with his German Shepherd, on the golf course or pickleball court, making music, or volunteering at church and around the community.

The people behind the plans

Say Hello to Our Team

A small, close-knit team that gets to know you by name.

Portrait of Tiffany Flaherty, Office Manager

Tiffany Flaherty

Office Manager

Tiffany has more than 20 years of office administration experience, and for the past 15 of them she has worked side by side with John. She keeps the office running smoothly: refining how things get done, overseeing detailed budgets and helping create a workplace people enjoy being part of. No task is too big or too small for her, and she gives each one the same care and attention. Her skill set includes accounting and human resources experience, and she holds an insurance license.

Traveling is high on her list of favorite things, along with time spent with family and her pets — Charlie, the German Shepherd, especially.

Ella Duran

Relationship Manager

Ella pairs real-world experience with genuine warmth, and she cares about getting the details right for every person she helps.

She earned an associate degree in business at Pierce College, where she was named to the dean’s list, and more recently finished her bachelor’s in business at Southeastern University. Her customer service career spans more than 10 years and many different industries. Today she is your go-to contact for client service questions and for getting started as a new client. As an insurance-licensed professional, she can help answer your questions and take care of your requests.

At church, Ella gives her time to both the hospitality team and the children’s ministry. Art is her outlet: give her a free afternoon and she’ll be sketching, painting or working on a craft project. At home, Ella is a wife and a mom of three.

Our furry team members

Toast, an orange-and-white cat, the firm’s Chief Napping Officer

Toast

Chief Napping Officer (CNO)

Toast is one of the furry friends who keep spirits high around here. Toast was a tiny newborn when someone found him outdoors in Richardson, Texas, and he needed urgent care right away. These days he takes his job seriously: tracking down every patch of sunshine for a nap and wrestling with his collection of toys. He has a curious, adventurous streak, yet a warm lap is always where he ends up for a snooze.

Charlie, a German Shepherd, the firm’s Paws-itive Experience Officer

Charlie

Paws-itive Experience Officer (PEO)

Charlie is a big part of the Flaherty family, and her family will happily tell you how much they adore her. Car rides are her favorite adventure. The second she hears keys jingle, her tail starts going, and whether the destination is the park or a long scenic drive, she is thrilled just to be along for the ride.

Back at home, Charlie is an expert at a good game of catch. She is as loving as she is adventurous, and she seems to know when someone could use a little cheering up — showing up with a gentle cuddle, a wagging tail or a cheerful bark that lets you know she’s got your back.

Flynn, a black cat, the firm’s Chief Snack Officer

Flynn

Chief Snack Officer (CSO)

Flynn turned up near the neighborhood pickleball courts and has since become the newest Flaherty. Food is his top priority. When his bowl is empty, you’ll usually find him playing with his brother, Toast.

How we work together

Your Path to Retirement

Planning for retirement can start with one easy conversation. Our simple three-step process helps us build a financial strategy around you and your retirement goals.

Your Story

We start by listening. Over a relaxed conversation, you’ll tell us what you picture for retirement, what you’re working toward and what’s on your mind, so we can understand you as a person first.

Your Snapshot

Next, we look at where things stand today. Side by side, we’ll review your accounts and resources, spot anything that may be missing and talk through what it could take to reach the retirement you have in mind.

Your Strategy

Then we build a personalized plan around the goals you shared. We don’t hand it over and disappear: as your life changes, we’ll keep checking in and make adjustments together.

The result: a plan shaped around your goals, so retirement can be more about the people and pastimes you love.

What we offer
